On August 30 in Sunday School we will go over the book we are reading for the summer, “Got Your Back.” Please join us for this important study as we continue to develop our Men’s Ministry here at New City.

Urgent Community Need
Please pray for a neighbor of Kevin and Sandra Smith who lives on the block behind the church at 5th and Derby. Ms. Weems had an electrical fire in which the inside of the house burned and she lost everything! She is 91 years old and has lived in her home for over 60 years. Donations of practical items like clothes and shoes would help greatly. These are her sizes: Clothes: size 12; Shoes: 7 1/2; Pajamas: Medium; Undergarments: Large. Please bring items to church Sunday and give them to Sandra Smith or take items to the office Monday.
Financial Update thru June 2026
$531,000 Budgeted Contributions
$459,238 Actual Contributions Received
While we often see a strong finish to the year, being 13.5% behind right now means several of our ministries are having to 'wait and see' before moving forward with planned purchases or activities. We want to invite you to help us close this gap early so our ministry leaders can focus on serving our community today with confidence, rather than waiting for a year-end catch-up. Thank you for your continued partnership in kingdom ministry.
Help Shape the Future of Care Ministry at Our Church
We are excited to partner with bēkn (pronounced 'beacon') to conduct a Church Caregiver Needs Survey that will help us better understand the needs of seniors, caregivers, and families within our congregation and community. You are all invited to participate – not just those caring for aging loved ones. Your feedback will help us identify current & future ministry opportunities and ensure our church family is prepared to serve those who need support, connection, and encouragement. The survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. All participants who provide contact information will receive an invitation to a free bēkn workshop this fall covering topics to be determined by this survey. Please complete the survey by Sun. Aug 23.

Heidelberg Catechism #119
Q. What is this prayer?
A. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one.*
For the kingdom and the power and the glory are yours forever.
Amen.1**
1 Matt. 6:9-13; Luke 11:2-4
*This text of the Lord's Prayer is from the New Revised Standard Version in keeping with the use of the NRSV throughout this edition of the catechism. Most biblical scholars will agree that it is an accurate translation of the Greek text and carries virtually the same meaning as the more traditional text of the Lord's Prayer
**Earlier and better manuscripts of Matthew 6 omit the words “For the kingdom and … Amen.”
