Scam Alert
Hey everyone, we wanted to give you a quick heads-up about something pretty frustrating.
Recently, some of you have been getting sketchy emails and texts that look like they’re coming from our pastors (including the pastor's name and newcityfellowship in the email address). It's not the correct address, but it could easily seem like it. So we are sending this warning out again.
Usually, this type of email starts by asking for "a favor" or "help," but they eventually move toward asking for money or gift cards. It’s a total scam, and we hate to see anyone in our community being targeted like this. Our pastors will not request gift cards, money, etc. in this way.
What You Need to Know
With AI getting so advanced, scammers can now write messages that sound exactly like someone you know. You might even get a voicemail that sounds just like one of our pastors—it’s getting that convincing.
The Bottom Line
If a message feels "off" or is asking for financial help out of the blue:
- Don't hit reply. * Don't click any links.
- Reach out to us. Give the church office a call or chat with the pastors directly to see if the request is real.
Stay safe out there and look out for one another!
