Every year on the last Sunday of October, we like to remember the Reformation and give thanks for God’s faithful work in recovering the truths of the Gospel. Marking Martin Luther’s posting of the 95 Theses in 1517, this day reminds us of our historic Protestant heritage. As a Reformed church, we celebrate the Solas of the Reformation: that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone, as revealed in Scripture alone. It is a joyous call to remain faithful to God's Word and ever thankful for His unmerited grace.
Fall Festival is Here This Sunday
Come on out for an evening of food, fun, and fellowship this Sunday October 25 from 4-6 pm! We will have games, crafts, trick-or-treat booths, and more. Wear your favorite costume and invite your friends, family, and neighbors to our Fall Festival!
2026 Turkey Program at Hope for the Inner City
Because we have to meet in the fellowship hall for worship right now, we don’t have the additional space available to pack and store our Thanksgiving boxes. So our Deacons made the decision to promote the Thanksgiving Box outreach at Hope this year. We would like to encourage members to support the ministry at Hope with our time and finances. To receive a turkey, you need to bring ID and apply in person at HFIC 1800 Roanoke Ave. M-Th 11 am - 1pm before Nov. 13. More info: (423) 698-3178. See flyer.
October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and we invite our New City Fellowship church family to join us in thanking God for our pastoral staff. We are grateful for the ways they serve our congregation, share God’s Word, and seek to honor the Lord. Scripture encourages us to “esteem them very highly in love because of their work” (1 Thessalonians 5:13). As they encourage us in our faith, we have an opportunity to encourage them, too. Take a moment this month to pray for our pastoral staff, share a personal word of thanks, write a thoughtful note, or offer a small token of appreciation. Simply letting them know how their ministry has touched your life can mean so much.
Let's Celebrate Together
For 50 years, God has been faithful to New City Fellowship, and we're gathering to celebrate together! The church is God's people, and for five decades He has been gathering, growing and sending His people through the congregation of New City. Whether you have been here from the beginning or joined along the way, it's a night to give God thanks for His steadfast love for His people, connect, reconnect, and celebrate!
Saturday, November 14 at 5:30 PM at Hope for the Inner City! We'll share a buffet barbecue dinner, fellowship, singing, a photo booth and more. Casual attire. Sign up by Nov. 4! Tickets: Ages 11 - Adult: $20; Children 3 -10: $10; Children 2 and under: Free; Family maximum: $60.

Heidelberg Catechism #1
Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death?
A. That I am not my own, 1
but belong—body and soul,
in life and in death—2
to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. 3
He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, 4
and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. 5
He also watches over me in such a way 6
that not a hair can fall from my head
without the will of my Father in heaven; 7
in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. 8
Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit,
assures me of eternal life 9
and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready
from now on to live for him. 10
